Amphibian Night Hike

Dates and time to be published January 2027

Late winter and early spring mark a brief, magical moment when frogs, toads, salamanders, and other vernal pool creatures emerge from their winter hiding places. Westmoreland Sanctuary invites you to experience this seasonal spectacle on a guided night hike.

Led by our expert naturalists, you’ll explore wetlands, vernal pools, and forest trails to hear spring peepers, spot wood frogs and spotted salamanders, and witness the incredible rush of amphibians beginning their annual migrations and breeding season. Along the way, learn about their fascinating life cycles, the critical role they play in the ecosystem, and simple ways we can help protect them.
