Join us for Winterfest! at Westmoreland Sanctuary, an evening of delicious food, seasonal wines, music, and a silent auction in support of our Environmental Education Center and ongoing conservation and educational work. This year’s event features a distinguished Charles Ludington, Wine History and Tastings known for engagements at the Yale Club and other notable venues, who will guide guests through a curated tasting of exceptional seasonal wines. The theme for Winterfest will be “Winter Wines.” He will introduce the wines and be available to discuss them throughout the evening.

Wine Specialist Background:
Charles (Chad) Ludington graduated from Yale College with a BA in history. He received his PhD in history from Columbia University. For twenty years he was a professor of history at North Carolina State University and New York University. His books includeThe Politics of Wine in Britain: A New Cultural History (2013), A Long Shadow: The Story of an Ulster Irish Family (2016), Food Fights: How History Matters to Contemporary Food Debates (2019), and The Irish in Eighteenth-Century Bordeaux (2024). He is the general editor of the forthcoming Bloomsbury Cultural History of Wine. He now conducts wine tastings and gives wine history talks.
