Regeneron: Day 4 Doing Good
What is Regeneron?
Regeneron is a pharmaceutical company who specializes in using biotechnology to create medicines for people with serious illnesses. Specifically, they have focused on treatments for those with eye diseases, allergic and inflammatory diseases, cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, pain, hematologic diseases, infectious diseases and rare diseases. They have managed to create 9 FDA-approved treatments in 30 years.
Day 4 Doing Good
Once a year, Regeneron directly promotes the well being of the Westchester County community by volunteering time to support local businesses. They call this day a Day 4 Doing Good. Westmoreland was fortunate enough to partner with 35 Regeneron staff members to do a day of conservation work. They were essentially given two objectives: plant as many trees/shrubs as possible, and clear a sizeable portion of land of invasive plant species.
Laughs, donuts and coffee were shared during a preliminary meeting to get Regeneron up to speed about what their tasks were for the day. They were informed of their duties and in what area they would be working in. This project was going to take a lot of communication and hard work, but Regeneron seemed up to the task.

And boy did they meet the challenge! These hard workers were jumping at the chance to get their hands in the dirt and pull up roots. In just under a few hours, the once invasive-covered land had been completely cleared and over 100 plants had been put into the ground. By the end of their time at Westmoreland, everyone was covered in dirt, sweat, and smiles. "It's really satisfying to step back and physically be able to see the work you were able to accomplish and know right then and there how your work made a positive impact to a good cause," said one of the Regeneron employees.
Westmoreland was lucky to have such a hardworking group of volunteers to make such a meaningful impact towards our conservation work.
